Freedom Writers is the uplifting true story about a determined young teacher played by Oscar winner Hilary Swank. She plays Erin Gruwell, a teacher who starts at a school which is known as the worst school in the area. To top it all off she is given the worst class, a lot of teachers had tried & failed to keep the students under control & they had got themselves the label of 'unteachable'. I started browsing for any titles about writing recently. I even visit my local video store looking for titles related to writers, writings or similar subject until I came across with this movie, Freedom Writers. I was hooked by the title and a bit intrigue with what this movie all about. To satisfy my curiosity, I immediately grab a copy. Applying new tips learned about writing a movie review, I did watch the movie couple of times first before actually started my review draft. I think one of the great things about this story is that it is true. It is a film that from the get go you are hooked - like a book you can't put down. Freedom Writers is about a phenomenal teacher, played by Hilary Swank, who changes the lives of a class of teenagers in room 209. It is based on the best selling book, The Freedom Writers Diary. This film is full of emotion, the acting is very good, you really feel the stories, but the real star of this whole film is Mrs G - Erin Gruewell. This movie was BEYOND inspiring. I LOVED IT. I have never cried so hard. Hilary Swank stars in this heart-melting story about an innovative teacher in a racially divided school who gives her students what they've always needed - someone to listen to them a allow them to have a voice. Swank plays Erin Gruwell, the real-life teacher at Long Beach's Wilson High, who inspired her underachieving students to overcome the gangs and life hardships that divided them and the education system that forgot them.
