Frequency does not do much to describe the type of movie this is and may put people off seeing the movie. It is basically a thriller, full of twists, with a strong streak of science fiction running all the way through it. Recently released on Region 1 DVD from New Line Cinema it arrived on my doorstep this week. The basic plot is that Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) is a fireman and a very good one, he is the best at his job and no risk is too much for him to take. He puts his life on the line everyday in an attempt to save others, but away from work Frank is a loving and caring father to John. But one day a rescue doesnt gop as planned and Frank dies in a blaze at a ... Read the complete review

I hadn't heard anything about this movie when I received the movie tickets of a private screening for it, so I didn't know what to expect of it, but boy was I in for a treat. I absolutely loved this innovative film with its suspenseful, entertaining, and intriguing storyline. This movie is a superb psychological thriller that was so imaginative and wonderful that it kept me hooked from the very beginning right down to the very end. The story is about a New York police detective John Sullivan, played by James Caviezel who hasn't yet recovered form the sudden death of his father Frank, played by Dennis Quaid, a firefighter who died tragically but, as a hero, in ... The big screen has a tendency to get it wrong when it attempts to mix and match genre's. You only have to look at the more recent Sunshine to see how shifting gear halfway through a film can destroy an utterly brilliant premise. However, the thoroughly enjoyable Frequency manages to apply the right mixture of thriller and science fiction to make it work. John Sullivan is a miserable cop who drinks alcohol too frequently, pushes away his closest friends and effectively his girlfriend, and carries too many demon's due to the death of his firefighter father. His life takes an interesting turn, when he discovers his father's old radio and finds himself talking ... Read the complete review

Firsty I'm going to apologise for this being in the wrong catergory but I have searched high and low for the DVD version of this film on dooyoo and have failed to find it, the strange thing is though that I'm sure I found it once! If anyone knows where it is, please let me know! So back to the DVD opinion....! I got recommended this film a while back and got lent the DVD version so I thought I'd watch it one night when I had nothing else to do. I got told not to expect that much, but a pretty good film. I personally thought that was pretty naff advice, I really liked this action packed flik and would recommend this film to anyone thats heard ... Read the complete review

This one came recommended by a friend as one to watch. Take it from me he is obviously either easily pleased, has a screw loose or is trying to get back at me for some past wrong. Maybe thats a bit extreme on the film, but it was not as captivating as he had made out. The story starts in 1969 October 10th, with Dennis Quaid playing the ever heroic American Fire fighter. Next thing we see is his son (Johnny) in 1999 suffering from a drink problem as a policeman, having never got over the death of his dad. Miraculously the two make contact when the old transmitter is found by the son and friends in the present day (1999) mostly it is expected by the ... Read the complete review
