Okay, first the easy part. The so-called storyline is quite simple. A bunch of young adults attend a counsellor training centre near the infamous Camp Crystal Lake, which now has a history of two sets of killings committed by the psychopathic mother of a drowned child. Said adults will spend their time walking through woods, being scared around a campfire, having sex and then getting stalked and killed one-by-one. This is what counsellors, trainee counsellors and any other young adults or late teens do in most Friday the 13th movies. Set five years after the events of the first film, this second instalment in the franchise removed all doubt about its ... Read the complete review

I've been having a re-watch of some old 80's horror films over the last few days so thought i'd share my opinion on some of them, if you are a fan of the genre and want to catch some cheesy 80's flicks then this could give you some ideas... Film only review. Friday the 13th Part 2 was the first official sequel to the infamous Friday the 13th. Released in 1981 this was the first film to feature Jason Voorhees as the machete wielding psycho killer. Set five years after the events of the original the story surrounds some young adults who are attending a counsellor training centre near to the camp where the murders were committed in the first ... note: also appears in part on The Student Room and Flixster Friday the 13th Part 2 can very much be blamed for the state of modern horror as it is - just pointless sequels that rehash the same material over and over again ad nauseum. Although it was released at roughly the same time as Halloween II, at least Halloween II was a fairly good follow-up to a great film, whereas this was a naff sequel to a film that wasn't even that good in the first place (aside from a few inventive kills and a killer ending twist). Since the first film, there have been nine direct sequels, one spin-off, and one reboot of the Friday the 13th franchise - are any of them any good? ... Read the complete review

Starting where the last film finished with a recap in case you'd forgotten how it finished is this films intro. Already you know Jason died as a child, his mother is dead meaning there is no danger and the entire point of the film is debunked before it ever starts. Trying to ask "but did Jason actually die?" only succeeds in debunking the ending of the original so is also pointless. Right, a camp next door to where Crystal Lake used to be is starting up. Now the 1st BIG goof is the assistant saying the phones aren't working yet. Not true as the guy who has his truck towed was talking to the camp for directions. The campfire story about Jason possibly ... Read the complete review

Rather than perhaps praising Halloween for being a masterpiece of the horror genre, it should instead perhaps be slated for creating a monster - a never ending mass of derivative slasher movies and worse still a derivative mass of slasher movies with an incredible amount of sequels. Friday the 13th is the main culprit. It is a movie which blatantly rips off Halloween, literally offering nothing new but killer and location and never seems to stop churning out sequels. This is part 2 of...well 8 last time I looked but there are probably more. The plot is pretty much incidental here, its a slasher movie after all and a not very intelligent one at that. Basically ...
