Friday The 13th Part III (DVD) ... no match for his murderous power. He's back again to terrorise the locals but meets some slightly stiffer competition in the form of a gang of bikers.

... (Kane Hodder), and this is the first film in the series where we actually see the hockey mask being worn by Jason, creating the horror iconography that has been enduring over the last near-30 years. Still, while I do like the character and a few of the films, there's just nothing here that doesn't wreak of either loud desperation or utter laziness. The 3D concept I can't really comment on, because I wasn't even alive when this film came out, but in watching it in 2D, it's clear that the film has been shot in a way ...more

Friday The 13th Part III (DVD): Lazy sequel (362 words)
by - written on 13/02/10 (Very useful, 3 readings)
Rating:

Friday the 13th Part III was released in 1982, just a year after Part II hit the cinemas, and it's not too surprising that it's a pretty dodgy effort, that's best reserved for a drunk night in, because for sober entertainment, it's none too satisfying even if you're a gore hound. Nothing here is original, even if the film tries to reinvigorate the horror concept with a hilariously retro 3D concept. Again, another group of young, horny, drug-laced teens go away to camp for the weekend and wind up being hunted by masked dumb lug Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder), and this is the first film in the series where we actually see the hockey mask being worn by Jason, ...  Read the complete review

All Kills, No Thrills (676 words)

I must admit I'm a huge fan of horror/thriller movies, even the old cheesy classics. I decided to watch this when it was on television recently, and wasn't disappointed. Though, that may be because I had expected it to be a load of nonsense. Friday 13th Part 3 is, unsurprisingly, the 3rd instalment of horrors. Originally made back in 1982, I believe the DVD only came out in Feb 2009. It was made as a 3D film, though apparently the UK DVD version doesn't actually have the 3D effects, which I think is rather bizarre. It was directed by Steve Miner, who has since gone on to work on other films/tv projects, and is rated certificate 18 due to the gore and violence. ...  Read the complete review

Friday The 13th Part III (DVD): All the worse in 3D: Friday's have never been so bad (600 words)

It must have seemed entirely appropriate when 1 and 2 done so well at the box office to push the boat out on number 3. Jason Vorhees returns once again to wreak havoc on those he holds responsible for decapitating his mother who was also hellbent on revenge for his death. Confused? By this point, I doubt you'll care. But for anybody who still did or does, Jason dons his trademark hockey mask for the first time and sets about killing unwitting teenagers who engage in pre-marital sex and pot-smoking. The ante on gore is upped furthermore as Jason offs each of the teens in more grotesque and foul ways. This time, the teens are a group of generic cliche's ...  Read the complete review

3D Eye Popping...Lovely (631 words)

Friday 13th Part 3: 3D is Steve Miner's second and final time in the director's chair directing one of the F13 movies, he also directed part 2 if anyone cares. It is also the movie in which infamous killer Jason discards the 'sack' and replaces it with the hockey mask for which these movies are famed. It is also not a very good movie. The actual action starts a mere couple of hours after the second installment ended. In fact it begins at the end of the second installment, wasting 10 minutes showing us a rehash of that movie. Despite the fact that a mass murder occured inthe area mere hours earlier, and the killer never caught a bunch of teenagers ...  Read the complete review

Friday The 13th Part III (DVD): They made another one!!!! (368 words)

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! They made a third one, right lets see what its got going for it - we already know who the killer will be but hey they filmed it in 3D, which actually is very good, yes the 3D effects in this film are good. The plot is Jason, a boy who drowned in the waters of Crystal Lake, is back again. But this time he encounters more formidable opponents in the form of members of a motorcycle gang and a group of teenagers on holiday at a farm. The action takes place on the rustic farm that provides both the spooky setting while Jason kills again. PS the farm is near Crystal Lake, and they try to add a bit of back ...  Read the complete review
