I watched the first series of Friends the first time it was on tv and I really enjoyed it. I do own it on video as I found it in a charity shop for £1.00 but I don't think it's worth buying the DVD if you have sky or anything as E4 shows all of the series back to back all week. You probably know this but it's about 6 friends living in new york . They're supposed to be in their twenties. All the main characters are in the first series and look really young compared to how they look now. This makes it a bit of a trip down memory lane. Also the first series is good from the point of view that we are still learning about the characters and not just ... Read the complete review

I didn't actually watch friends when it began airing in the UK, as I was only a nipper when the first series started in 1994! I only got into it about 2 years ago when my sibling brought the first few boxsets, and I got into it after she started watching it while I was using her computer and gradually ended up doing less work than I intended because I was as hooked on friends as she was! Personally I think series 1 is one of the best. The characters are new, so stick strictly to the creators idea of who they should be. Whereas obviously the characters develop over 10 series, but in my opinion some for the better, some not so. In series 1 Phoebe is quite similar to Joey, ... Read the complete review

Friends is a TV show created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman that started in 1994. It shows the day to day lives of six completely different individuals from series 1, and throughout the following nine seasons we follow their strong friendship, relationship problems, job issues, the typical things that we might go through. All of these things are put in comically funny ways that touches our hearts and makes us laugh at the same time. Starring Courteney Cox as Monica, a chef-cum-compulsive cleaner who is unlucky in love and very high maintenance, Lisa Kudrow as kooky Phoebe who is dumb but pretty and lovable, Jennifer Aniston as fashioned-obsessed Rachel who ... Sitcoms over the years have become a dime a dozen, so it takes something special to last beyond the first season, if no the pilot episode alone. For a show to last 10 years and entrench itself into popular culture like no sitcom before it or since it is a once in a lifetime occurrence. In lasting 10 seasons, Friends reached a pantheon only previously reached by Cheers, Seinfeld and now Fraisier. And although Friends certainly owes a lot to Cheers (Without Sam and Diane, there's no Ross and Rachel) and Seinfeld (with it's ensemble cast and everyday setting) it reached new heights of universal popularity with characters, themes and motifs that we ... I first started to watch friends when my cousin recommended it to me many many years ago. I reluctantly watched an episode with her and from then on, I was hooked. Years later, I now own all 10 dvd box sets and often find myself rolling around, tears streaming down my face and my cheeks aching from laughter. I guess you could say I was a big fan, I could (and still can) recite nearly every line from most episodes, had all of the games and even bought the books, but I'm here to talk about the dvd's, not what a big fan I was/am. - History - Friends is a US sitcom which first aired in 1994. No one ever anticipated how successful the series would ... Read the complete review
