From Dusk Till Dawn 2 - Texas Blood Money (DVD) ... / DVD released 01 July, 2002 at Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainm / Features of the DVD: PAL / B-movie mavens turned A-list genre fiends Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino teamed up in 1996 to take vampire gothic south of the border into spaghetti Western territory for the gory cult film From Dusk Till Dawn. The high-concept mix of southwestern criminals versus supernatural nasties proved too irresistible for either of the video-hound creators to allow it to remain dead (or undead, as the case may be), so they plotted and produced a pair of direct-to-video sequels. Tarantino takes a story credit on the first, a heist film coscripted and directed by Scott Speigel. A Mexican bank robbery helmed by drawling criminal Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) turns into a literal bloodbath when his crew are turned into hungry bloodsuckers. Speigel, a buddy of Sam Raimi, tops both Tarantino and Rodriguez for sheer cinematic acrobatics, putting his camera in the most absurd places (even from inside the mouth of a vampire chomping down on a victim) and driving the film with adrenaline-charged overkill, but despite some clever scenes and a hilarious Psycho spoof, From Dusk Till Dawn 2--Texas Blood Money turns into another aggressively trashy latex-mask and rubber-bat gorefest as cops and robbers team up against the fanged gang. Bo Hopkins costars as the police detective dogging Patrick's trail. Bruce Campbell and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen make cameos in the jokey opening sequence and Speigel and fellow director Kevin Smith briefly appear as vampire bait. Bartender Danny Trejo is the only returning cast member. --Sean Axmaker

Buck contacts Jesus to be the driver, CW who is the safe man and Raybob who doesn't really have any real role in the robbery but is just there because Buck feels sorry for him. Luther runs into a bat that destroys his jeeps engine and has to walk to a local bar to get help. Unfortunately the local bar is The Titty Twister (from the original movie) and it still has its original barman Razor Eddie played by Danny Trejo (despite being killed in the original movie bu...more

Premium Review From Dusk Till Dawn 2 - Texas Blood Money (DVD): Not a sequal as such (622 words)
by - written on 05/11/08 (Very useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

I wasn't even aware there was a sequal to this but I was more than willing to give it a go as I have highly enjoyed the original on numerous occassions. Sadly thats not the case there though. When you see a movie and horror icon Bruce Campbell is killed in a lift by a swarm of bats in its opening few minutes (along with the very lovely Tiffany-Amber Thiessen who I mistakenly thought was Nicole De Boer of Cube & Deep Space 9 fame) then you can be pretty worried for what might come afterwards. When these 2 deaths turn out to be a film being watched on stolen cable by lead character Buck (played well enough by Robert Patrick of Terminator 2 fame) ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review From Studio To Video, Miss Out The Cinema (1063 words)

Rating:

Every now and then it seems that studio?s have the brilliant idea to cash in on a successful film by franchising it. When they find a film that worked they seem to drain it of any unique attributes just like they have with the From Dusk Till Dawn films. Now a trilogy Tarantino and Rodriguez have taken a back seat as Executive producers on this sequel. Of course when you?ve actually watched it you will see just why Tarantino and Rodriguez kept as far away as they could. After a completely pointless opening scene in which two people are killed by bats the main film gets underway. Having escaped from ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review From Dusk Till Dawn 2 - Texas Blood Money (DVD): Blasphemy! (987 words)
by - written on 15/10/00 (Very useful, 46 readings)
Rating:

You can imagine my excitement when I heard last year that a sequel to From Dusk Till Dawn was in the pipeline. You can then imagine my unspeakable disappointment when I learned that it would star none of the characters from the original film except Razor Charlie, the barman. To add insult to injury, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have practically nothing to do with this film, acting merely as executive producers. Small wonder, then, that this was a straight to video release. Instead of continuing the exploits of Seth Gecko, Texas Blood Money is based around new characters. Luther, a bank robber, has recently escaped from jail in Texas and hatches a plan ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review B-Horror fun. (352 words)

Ok I hold my hand up and admit that I quite enjoyed this film, yes I know it’s nowhere near as good as the original but what did you expect from a straight to video release. The main problem for ‘Texas Blood Money’ is that it always going to compared with the first one. The only remaining actor from the first one is Danny Trejo as the bartender, joining him are Robert Patrick (T2, The Faculty), Bo Hopkins (U-Turn). The opening sequence features cameo’s by Bruce Campbell and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen. Others may be more interested to know that Playboy playmate of August 1994 makes a revealing appearance. The plot this time round tells the ...  Read the complete review

From Dusk Till Dawn 2 - Texas Blood Money (DVD): Can a series really go this far downhill? (364 words)
by - written on 05/08/01
Rating:

From Dusk Till Dawn 2 is about an escaped bank robber, Luther who contacts one of his old robber friends, played well by Robert Patrick, to help him rob a bank. TThey are joined by a few others and stay at a hotle. Luther goes off on his own and stops at the titty twister where he is turned into a bloodsucker. He goes back and starts to turn his crew of robbers into vampires. At the bank there is only one (Patrick) left. The vampires aren't paticualry worried about the police anymore because of their immoratility so when the alarm is set off they continue to rob the bank. Patrick, the only human left runs and gets caught. The police don't believe him ...  Read the complete review
