After seeing the terrible letdown "From Dusk Till Dawn 2 : Texas Blood Money", I didn't have very high expectations of this film when I got it out on video. Despite having little involvement from the crew of the original From Dusk Till Dawn, "From Dusk Till Dawn 3 : The Hangman's Daughter" is actually the brainchild of Robert Rodriguez and his cousin, Alvaro. They came up with the story together and Alvaro wrote the screenplay. Right from the start of the film, you can tell it has style. It is set in 1913 and starts with an American writer, Ambrose Bierce (played by, would you believe it, Michael Parks - Earl McGraw from the first ... Read the complete review

This is an odd one in terms of trying to place its genre. It's more a bad western with some vampires in it than a bad vampire movie set in the old west. Described as a prequel despite being billed as Part of the Dusk Till Dawn series this is set in the old west and tries to incorporate the true story of the author Ambrose Bierce and his disappearance into Mexico with the desire to join up and become part of Pancho Villa's army. The film is very surreal and follows the journey of Bierce (don't ever expect to understand the start of this movie or Bierce's memories of the event either as it's very unclear as to whether his execution is a flashback, a dream or ... From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter. ------------------------ Ok we all know that Dusk Till Dawn was a great film and that the straight to video follow ups had a lot to live up to and have been dismissed by many who have seen them as rubbish. Having said that I was one of the few who actually enjoyed the second film ‘Texas Blood Money’ and found it to be a very watch able horror B-movie, which while far from brilliant didn’t quite deserve the slagging it got. ‘The Hangman’s Daughter’ is basically very similar to the first film albeit a western and it's a true prequel to the original ‘From Dusk ... From Dusk till Dawn 3 is an improvement on the second movie in this series but that is not really a compliment! The second movie was just terrible. I am glad to report that this movie is a lot better. It is set in the Wild Wild West and starts off alittle dodgy. However when the cast reach the pub the movie moves up a notch and it is very similar to the original movie. This is a good thing as the second movie really didnt have much in common with the first. When the cast reach the bar all seems well but as soon as the doors shut it is mayhem like the original. It turns out that the bar is full of vampires and all hell breaks out. If you liked the ending of the ... Read the complete review

As a huge fan of the original FDTD, I was enthusiastic to see that they decided to do 2 sequels. I was scared too, because there was always a big possibility that they would mess them up. Well, they did. Part 2 was just a huge wast of time and one of the biggest disappointments ever. Part three is an improvement. I liked the concept (FDTD meets Western) and really wanted to enjoy it. I ended up not hating it ... which is not much of a compliment. The story is pretty close to the original's and the cast did an OK job, but there are no surprises. The creators try too hard to match the original's coolness and forget to make an interesting movie. Watch it once out ... Read the complete review
