      Very helpful

      still one of my favourites

This is actually the second of three series in the full metal saga. During the first series we were introduced to Kanami Chidori a spunky young woman with long beautiful hair (as shown in the image above) and an army obsessed young (not to mention handsome) mercenary called Sousuke Sagara. Sousuke Sagara was brought up in a war based environment and knows nothing other than weaponry and survival skills.

Him and his colleagues have been assigned to protect Miss Chidori when it is discovered she is one of the "whispered". These are a group of women who have concentrated levels of secret military codes etched into their memories. However these codes are only discovered through severe mental probing experiments.

Sosuke's mission is to protect Chidori from being kidnapped by international spies. Initially Miss Chidori thinks Sousuke is just a perverted stalker/ peeping tom but eventually she finds out his secret and the action adventure turns to a romantic comedy.

      Full metal panic Fumoffu
There are no big missions this series seems to be solely about the antics that teenage kids get up to although Sousuke continues with his bizarre obsession with guns. We are also introduced a little further to other kids in the school.
However there is rarely a dull moment with Sousuke blowing up shoe lockers and intercepting pony tailed obsessed perverts. We even have a lot of fan service episodes were the whole group go on weekend holidays to the beach or hot springs like in any typical romantic anime comedy.

      The DVD
The first volume contains four episodes, each of which contains 1-2 stories/adventures.

Episode1 The man from the South/A hostage with no compromises
Sousuke mistakes a love letter for a blackmail letter and blows up part of the school and Miss Chidori kicks his ass/ Miss Chidori is kidnapped by a local gang and Sousuke has to come to her rescue.

Episode 2 Hostility passing by/A fruitless lunchtime
Sosuke in his haste to buy lunch from the school bread stall accidentally shoots off his gun sending the school into a scare and so injuring the school lunch ladies, Sousuke, Miss Chidori and her class mates have to step in to serve lunch for a while/ Sousuke borrows Miss Chidori's notebook overnight but forgets to bring it in the next day, can the two of them retrieve it before the end of lunch break without being caught by the police?

      Episode3 Summer illusion of steel
The class take to the beach, Miss Chidori annoyed that Sousuke didn't notice her new swim suite takes off on her own. However Sousuke being who he is immediately thinks she has been kidnapped, panics and stops at nothing until he knows her where a bouts.

Episode4 The Hamburger hill of art/Single minded stakeout
The class go on an art fieldwork trip, however Sousuke misunderstanding instructions takes off and camouflages himself among the wildlife. The class have to sketch him otherwise they fail the class/ Miss Chidori grows tired of Sousuke not paying any attention to her and so heads off on a date with a senior from her school.

The dvd also contains clean opening and closing credits and adverts for ADV

The opening scenes and music are a lot more light hearted and relaxed compared to the previous series introducing the characters very simply with beautifully crafted backgrounds.
The closing scene is a little more comical with chibi (mini versions) of the characters marching across the scenes in between clips of the series.

I probably would not have bought or watched this series if I had not read other reviews about it as the animation looks a little generic from the box. However the computer generated graphics and artwork are very impressive and beautiful. The slapstick comedy is really well timed also and the English dubbing is just as good as the Japanese dub.
By the end of this dvd you really want Sousuke and Miss Chidori to make up and become a couple as the plot and characters are very likable and make you feel involved.

However hard core fans of the series maybe won't like this as it is purely slapstick and there is no real action in this series.
