 ... film but "people" stands out along which is the song she sings to Omar Sharif (who is absolutely drop dead gorgeous in this movie!!). He is absolutely charming and very appealing! But I also find this film quite sad at the end. It does bring a little lump to my throat as she goes on stage to sing the song at the finale - My Man - about how much she still loves him and will be there for him even although she knows by this time that she has lost him - maybe forever. this is my absolutely second to none favourite film (well there are some very close seconds). Barbra Streisand is amazing in this movie, her comedy timing, her amazing singing, her acting talent is fantastic. I love all the musical numbers in this film but "people" stands out along which is the song she sings to Omar Sharif (who is absolutely drop dead gorgeous in this movie!!). FUNNY GIRL This magnificent musical was the first movie for Barbara Streisand who was already on the stage playing Fanny Brice in the stage version. Producer Ray Stark wanted to make this into a movie and he managed to get Columbia on board, at first Columbia wanted Shirley MacLaine, an actress who had already worked on a musical movie, but Stark insisted on keeping Barbara in the part of Fanny. Columbia became so impressed with Barbara that they signed her up for three musicals, (which I will review later).
