Its a bank holiday your at home minding your own business and then bank holiday television reminds you of one of the worst dvd's you ever bought. Today the CGI film Garfield was shown on TV and gave me vivid flashbacks of a time in my life when I felt buying a loved one such a dvd would be cute and lovely, its not! Garfield (Voiced by Bill Murray) is a lazy fat cat who lives with his owner Jon (Breckin Meyer), one day the local vet Liz (Jennifer Love Hewitt) persuades Jon to look after Odie a stray puppie, Jon can't refuse being a nice guy and having a huge crush on Liz. Whilst Jon and Odie bond, Garfield feels his cushy number is ... Read the complete review

~ ~ Friday evening after a hard week’s toil in the old “joe maxi” (taxi) and not too much of note on the old telly. So it’s a quick visit to the local video shop, €15 over the counter, and I’m off home to watch “Garfield” (2004), the famous (infamous?) cartoon cat who has graced the funny pages in worldwide newspapers for generations, in his very first venture onto the silver screen. ~ ~ I loved the Garfield comic strip when I was a nipper. (Come to think of it, I still do) Garfield, his incredibly stupid and gormless companion Odie the dog, and their owner Jon Arbuckle, were the cause of many a chuckle and outright guffaw from the mad cabbie. In fact, I used ... Read the complete review

My little niece loves this movie so I have sat through it a couple of times on a rainy afternoon when it is too horrible to go out. The CGI special effects are rather impressive to bring alivethe physical attributes of Garfield who is a lazy wise cracking cat whose belly is about as big as his ego with the former being a consequence of his love for lasagne. In this movie Bill Murray provides the voice and he is a perfect choice as he really brings the character to life, it sort of reminded me of his Ghostbusters role with the ready wit and sharp one liners. Interestingly while Garfield is CGI his opposite number and nemesis Odie the dog ... Read the complete review

I have always enjoyed the comic strip of Garfield that you find in the newspapers as I like the cynical lazy outlook of the papmpered intelligent cat so I was looking forward to seeing the film, not so much at the cinema when it was released but when I could sponge a lend of someone DVD or it came onto TV. This film was very funny however I was also really impressed by the CGI special effects which were able to bring Garfield to life and really capture his personality and attitudes he is a lazy wise cracking cat whose belly is about as big as his ego and a love of lasagne, in fact eating occupies many of his waking thoughts. The character of ... Read the complete review

Yes, yes, it's everyone's favourite cat! Dry-witted and sarcastic as ever, Garfield's back. But not quite as we know him. The 3-D animation version of Garfield, although similar to the comic strip, doesn't quite capture him in my opinion. They've created a sort of animated cat-real cat hybrid which doesn't quite work. And yet, for all other animals, including the inimitable Odie, the film makers have used real animals. And Odie looks nothing like Odie in the comic strip. I really don't understand that. If they wanted to use real animals, why didn't they just use a real cat rather than spending millions of pounds on a computer ... Read the complete review
