I only recently started watching Gavin and stacey after my mum and younger brother kept telling I had to watch it because it was really funny and just a simply brilliant British comedy series. It is simply a story of how a nice boy from Essex meets a nice girl from Wales. Gavin and Stacey speak every day on the phone for 6 months, the first episode is their first meeting. They each bring along a mate (Nessa and Smithy) to this first meeting and the intertwined tales of love, friendship and family begin. So who is everyone? Gavin is a nice, sweet lad who likes spending time in the pub trying beers from around the world with his best mate ... Read the complete review

Name a decent British sitcom from the last 5 years....now name one that isn't written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant....or David Mitchell and Robert Webb...all you're left with (in my opinion) is a little known sitcom written by Ruth Jones and James Corden that has escalated from a bit-part in the schedule of BBC Three to one of the most loved comedies of recent years - Gavin & Stacey. The story goes of two people who have never met, Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page), but eventually decide to do so after months of chatting to one another over the phone. Upon meeting in the middle of Leicester Square along with their best mates, Smithy ... Read the complete review

It was only last Christmas that I discovered the 'crackin' television show that is Gavin and Stacey, when the Christmas Special was on at my parents' house and I had no real choice but to watch it alongside my parents, who were both very busy assuring me that I would love it, and it was really funny etc. I, on the other hand had long since made up my mind that it was complete rubbish, having caught the tail-end of one episode which didn't make any sense to me because I knew nothing of the characters or what they were talking about. This, of course, was a rather daft assumption to make, but it is pretty much why I hadn't watched any of the rest of the first ... Read the complete review

This is one of the funniest British comedy shows on TV of recent years. About the show ************* The show first aired on BBC3 in May 2007 and has 6 x 30 minute episodes in this first series. The show starts of with 2 people who have become quite friendly whilst chatting on the phone at work. They are Gavin and Stacey, Gavin is from Essex and Stacey is from Barry Island, Wales. In the first episode they agree to meet up in Leicester Square for their first meeting and they would both bring their best friends (Smithy and Nessa). Throughout this first series you see Gavin and Stacey's romance blossom, their engagement and in the last ... Read the complete review

Living abroad - I never witnessed Gavin and Stacey's rise on the box from the funny shelves of BBC3 to a prominent role in people's tele viewing. Instead I saw the DVD version of Series 1 and later Series 2, Series 1 is the best in my eyes because it does a brilliant job of introducing you to the characters. Gavin and Stacey talk over the phone at work, as their two companies are connected, they decide to meet up and that's where the series starts, in just 6 episodes it trails their relationship from the first date and culminates in their wedding. The show is cleverly written, characters are smoothly introduced, there's also a feel good factor about the ... Read the complete review
