Premium Review Gavin & Stacey - Complete Series 2 (DVD): What's occurring?? (987 words)

After becoming a fairly recent fan of the BBC sit-com 'Gavin and Stacey', and thoroughly enjoying the DVD of the first season (my review of which, is on Dooyoo, of course!) I was overjoyed to learn that my sister had purchased the DVD of the second season whilst I was visiting her recently. She of course (after much nagging from me) agreed that I could borrow it, and I have to say that I enjoyed this second offering just as much as the first one. Without giving too much away for anybody who has not yet seen the first series, I will explain in a little detail what you can expect to gain from the second instalment in this fantastic comedy ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review "I won't lie to you Bryn": this is brilliant! (461 words)

Gavin and Stacey has been the 'show of the moment', and now you can get the latest series for just £9 which is amazing value. With this series, there is a slight feeling that the storyline had reached its natural conclusion in series 1, and they had to think hard to come up with more storylines. Because of this, characters such as Smithy and Nessa are given even stronger storylines (won't give it away), which is a good thing in my opinion, as they are much more likable characters than Gavin and Stacey. When I first heard about this show I was dubious. The show focuses on Welsh Stacey and Essex lad Gavin, who fall in love. A lot of the comedy comes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Gavin & Stacey - Complete Series 2 (DVD): A bit of a disappointment (299 words)

As you know, I'm relatively new to Gavin & Stacey - living abroad, I didn't catch any of the original outings nor any of the media surrounding it. I basically watched the 2 series back to back. I had high hopes for the 2nd series but had to say that it didn't match up to my expectations after the first. The end of the 1st series left the 2nd open to several story lines and whilst the 2nd series did in fact follow them, I found that the moody ups and downs of Gavin and Stacey to seem a bit trivial and there were few good moments which came out of it. Bryn comes into his own in this seriesas he takes part in numerous funny sketches, chubby Smithy ...  Read the complete review

The Barry Billericay bunch return for more hilarity. Now Gavin and Stacey are married, they return from honeymoon to live with Pam and Mick. But Stacey is going to miss her family so much. This series explores how the fast pace at which Gavin and Stacey united has affected their relationship. They begin to realise they really don't know each other that well, Stacey is very miserable and wants to go home to Barry, especially now that Gwen has moved Nessa in to her old room and completely changed it all around. When Stacey goes home she either has to take the couch or stay at Bryn's. Gwen's birthday brings the two families together again, and Bryn is so stressed out, more ...  Read the complete review
