Gavin and Stacey has been the 'show of the moment', and now you can get both seasons for £15, which is a real bargain. Bear in mind, this doesn't include the latest Christmas special, but all 6 episodes from series 1, and all 6 from series 2. When I first heard about this show I was dubious. The show focuses on Welsh Stacey and Essex lad Gavin, who fall in love. A lot of the comedy comes through the Welsh-ness of Stacey and her family and friends, and the Essex-ness of Gavin and co, which is what worried me about the show; it seemed to me that it was trying to hit on the comic strengths of The Royle Family, a comedy based around a Manchester family. This is a review on the Gavin and Stacey series 1 and 2 boxset. I got this DVD box set bought for me for my birthday late last year, i was an avid fan as soon as Gavin and Stacey appeared on our screens, as were many people, so was obviously overjoyed at my present. So what is Gavin and Stacey about, i hear you shout. Well it's pretty much about two young people who meet, fall in love and get married, with plenty of ups and downs along the way. It's a very well made British comedy. Written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, who also star in the comedy themselves. In my personal opinion, it's one of the best British comedys of recent years, as i ... Read the complete review

Gavin and Stacey on DVD is twelve episodes of nice, but not particulary laugh out loud comedy. The plot focuses on a family from Essex and a family from Barry in Wales who get together often as Gavin and Stacey are getting married. Mathew Horne and Joanna Page who play Gavin and Stacey are the straight characters. Neither character is particularly funny. This is left to the support cast. The writers of the show James Corden and Ruth Jones are also the highlights in the show as their characters Smithy and Nessa have an on off relationship. Smithy is a great character full of life whereas Nessa is mean, moody and Welsh. A special mention must go to Rob Brydon who ... Read the complete review

Gavin and Stacey is not a programm i watched when it first started on bbc3, even thogh some people I know watched it and said it was good. however last christmas when there was nothing on the tv I happened to stumble upon the christmas special and must admit I thought it was really funny. this is what prompted me to go and buy series 1 & 2 on dvd and once i watched one episode i just wanted to keep on watching. It didn't take long before I had watched all the episodes. The characters Gavin, Stacey, Ness and Smithy are fantastic and completely believable. Uncle Bryn is my favourite! I have since watched all the dvd again and have borrowed it out to friends who ... Read the complete review
