But when he actually meets Snow and tries to prepare him for the concert, he quickly begins to wonder if he has bitten off more than he can chew. Can he get his celebrity rockstar to the venue in time whilst resisting all the temptations and wild parties that come with his association with Snow? And can he stay faithful to his own long-suffering girlfriend? I have to say I was less than impressed with this. A mate of mine had made much o...more

Get Him to the Greek (DVD): Look. I'm eating my own head. (1405 words)

Rating:

Get him to the Greek is ostensibly a film about a character from another film. This is a story about a very badly behaved rock star, Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), and Aaron Green, the music executive (Jonah Hill), who is asked to transport him from London to a comeback gig in Los Angeles. Snow is the same rock star Brand played so well in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and Hill also starred in that film as a starstruck waiter, in this film, Brand is the same character, but now back on the booze, following a fallout with his pop star wife, who finds his behaviour as a non drinker boring, whilst Hill plays a starstruck Music executive who begins to appreciate that ...  Read the complete review

Diddy's a show stealer! (353 words)

Rating:

Having loved Russell Brand in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' there was no way I was going to miss out on his next film - especially as the film would be centred on him. The film starts out with an intro to Jonah Hills character (Aaron Green) who works as a talent scout for Pinnacle Records, has Diddy as a boss...and just happens to be a huge Aldous Snow fan. He has a really annoying girlfriend who's a bit of a cow - she's training to be a nurse and is demanding and pretty selfish. Russell Brand picks up his character 'Aldous Snow' who is now pretty much washed up after a rather disaster (put highly funny) song 'African Child'. His misses, Jackie Q, ...  Read the complete review

Get Him to the Greek (DVD): Tick tock... (648 words)

Rating:

Since seeing the adverts for this I have wanted to see it but didn't get round to it until last night when I went with two friends to see it at the cinema. This is a film only review as it is not yet available on DVD, however it can still be seen at cinemas. The main character featured in Forgetting Sarah Marshall a few years ago. *Plot* Aldous Snow was once a very famous and very successful pop star. However, his last album African Child was a flop to say the least and has been said to be an insult to Africa. Because of this, Aldous has been keeping himself to himself over recent years. He has split up with the mother of his child and is living in ...  Read the complete review

A Low Brand of Humour (734 words)
by - written on 23/06/10 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:

So how much do you like Russell Brand? Personally, I find him slightly amusing but not particularly likeable, and rather annoying. The reformed heroin junkie and sex addict has re-invented himself as some comedic dandy, which seems to appeal to the loyal audience of airheads who have followed him from Big Brother's Little Brother on Channel 4 through to his trans-Atlantic transfer to the silver screens of Hollywood. As an actor, even after watching this film, I'm yet to decide on his talents in that direction, because in rock star Aldous Snow, Brand pretty much plays a character closely based on himself. But to the plot: Jonah Hill plays Aaron ...  Read the complete review

Get Him to the Greek (DVD): Wild Rock'n'Roll comedy (1256 words)

Rating:

~ Film review only, some spoilers included! ~ Plot: Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) is an intern at Pinnacle Records who gets a dream assignment to fly to London and accompany struggling British rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to a comeback concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater. It's billed as the 10th anniversary of a legendary show that took place at the same venue, and it's a sell-out. Along with sponsorship deals and back catalogue sales, it's sure to make millions for the record company, and Aaron's boss Sergio Roma (Sean Combs) has to put all his trust in Aaron to get the rebellious and unpredictable rock star to the show in one piece. ...  Read the complete review
