Get Over It Get Over It was released in 2001 and can be gernealised as a romantic comedy. It is based around Shakesphere's play A Midsummer Nights Dream, yet takes a modern approach to this and relates it to Modern America. As a huge fan of Kirsten Dunst (previously of Bring It On Fame), I was very much looking forward to this film. After the success of Kirsten Dunst?s first major teen movie (?Bring it on?) I couldn?t wait to see ?Get over it?. From the trailers it looked like something similar, which couldn?t have been a bad thing considering ?Bring it on? is one of my favourite movies. Berke and Alison are the perfect high school couple. ...Avoid this film, because it sucks. At first glance, Get Over It might well appear to have the stupidest plot in recent cinema history. Much of the action revolves around a school production of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, updated with the addition of cheesy pop songs. This abomination of a production is masterminded by a gloriously camp Martin Short, who is quite blatantly laughing all the way to the bank in this brainless teen flick. I’m sure you know me by now – I’m a huge fan of these cheesy teenage comedies, predictable though they may be, I can’t seem to get enough of them. Part of it is wanting my own life to work out so neatly, the way in these films the right guy and girl always end up together at the end, and everyone is always smiling and happy. Wouldn’t life be great that way? When his girlfriend decided to dump him it feels like the end of the world for Berke.
