Advantages: A brilliant, well acted film - totally involving.

This is a stunning film, from start right through to the very end I was gripped as we see the general maximus fall and rise again, from general, to slave, to hero.

The film is beautifully shot and superbly acted, you really feel for the character as he seeks revenge and becomes a gladiator, working his way to the colosseum in Rome to try and face the emperor of Rome himself. The film has a few twists and turns in it and it is one of the very few films I've watched where I watched it for a second time immediately.

I'm not a huge fan of Russell Crowe, but in this film he really does demonstrate his acting ability as he portrays the grief stricken general who is sold into slavery. You really feel for Maximus as he spends his days not caring whether he lives or dies, and then finds purpose again when he learns that he may have a chance to avenge his wife and son.

This is a DVD which should be in anyones DVD collection, well worth seeing - you won't regret it!

Summary: A must buy.
