Advantages: Everything- cast, plot, effects...

This film is quite possibly in my top 5 favourite films of all time. It is a beautifully made, stunning film with fantastic casting. Russell Crowe is so believable and amazing as the general- modest and strong, and then as the gladiator. You can feel the hatred from Maximus (Crowe) towards Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and the passion between Maximus and Lucilla (Nielsen).
The story follows Maximus who is trying to win justice for his true friend, the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, as he did not want his son Commodus to rule, and Maximus trying to gain justice for his murdered family.
The fighting scenes are fantastic, particulary one with four tigers! There is not one boring part in this film. The film also made me cry at several parts, and I believe if a film can make you tearful it's a good one.
I think Joaquin Phoenix plays such a good part in this film, you genuinely cannot stand him. He looks the part and sounds the part.
I won't spoil the ending for you, just one piece of advice...WATCH THIS FILM!
