Advantages: Good Storyline, Good Actors, Good Action Scenes
Disadvantages: None, None, None
There have been many movies created to do with the Romans and Gladiators, but none have been so up-to-date as Gladiator. I saw this movie in the summer of 2000 and was very pleased with the results. Starring Russell Crowe as Roman general, Maximus, he is put in slavery by Commodus, who is heir to the throne. You know that he is something of a bad apple when he murders his own father. I don't really want to give too much of the storyline away, but this should be enough to get you into watching the film. The fight scenes in the movie are very good indeed and combine people's head being chopped off, tigers in the arena and the camera zooms in at the right moments so that you can see the best parts close-up. Special DVD Features - Making of Gladiator: HBO First Look - 25 minutes Deleted Scenes with optional Director's Commentary Gladiator Games - Roman Blood Sport: Learning Channel Special - 50 minutes Hans Zimmer Profile - The Making of the Music for Gladiator Pietro's Treasure Chest: Best of Deleted Footage Montage Spencer Treat Clark (Lucius) Production Journal Original Storyboard Comparisons & Conceptual Art Photo Gallery Trailers Animated Menus Production Notes Cast & Crew Biographies It is no wonder why this film managed to receive many Oscars and I would recommend anyone at all to either rent or buy Gladiator.

- 20/08/01 Q. How much of this was copied from the back of the DVD box / website review, and how much is your opinion the actual DVD?
Dooyoo needs you to give your impressions of the products that you review, and I felt that you let yourself down in this instance.
