Advantages: Mariah looks nice

Disadvantages: Way too many to list

I have nothing against Mariah Carey, in fact I think her music (in general) is great. But, come on- "Glitter" has got to be the most appauling "mess movie" of 2001.

At first, I thought the critics were just being harsh (as they like to be on Mariah), but I can honestly say they weren't.

So let's start off with Mariah's acting skills- does she have any? NO! If you think Whitney and Madonna can't act, trust me they're much, much better.
The rest of the cast show terrible acting skills aswell.

The storyline-
It's sort of an autobiography of Mariah's life, but she's now called Billie Franl.
It is set in 1983, but it might as well of been set in 2001.

The main storline is terribly weak: A struggling student (Carey) is spotted by a top record producer and they fall in love. I could go into deep detail but it'd bore the pants off you. It's all very emotional- not! I found myself laughing at the parts when Mariah's crying. It's plagued with dreadful dialogue and corny lines. Mariah has sunk very low!

At the beginning of "Glitter", the storyline revolves around Mariah's mother. But, half way through the film (when Billie's become famous), her mother is totally forgotten about!

And, what else actually happens in "Glitter"? Billie Frank grows old to become a successful pop idol. All very boring, no action or adventure at all!

Other info-
For a bit of publicity, Mariah decided to make a soundtrack for the film (which is fairly poor). Most of the songs from the album "Glitter" were promoted on the movie, but because so few people actually saw it, those songs ended up failing miserably.

Those of you who live in UK will be wondering "When was this film released, I don't remember it coming out?". The actual fact is, it flopped so badly in USA it wasn't even released
on video in the UK!

There are no major special effects, tense moments or in fact any part of the film that you'd remember as being good. After baring 10 minutes, you'll be counting the seconds until this disaster of a movie finishes!

If you like watching a once massive singers career go down the drain, then you'll love this! (You'll be following in Mariah's footsteps and checking into a psychiatric unit next).
