When Memphis Raines (Nicholas Cage) returns to town to realise that his little brother, Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) is in a lot of trouble and is possibly going to be killed, he is asked by his mother to do anything to protect her youngest son, whatever it takes, and find Memphis having to go back to a previous life and do something that he said he would never do again.

Memphis was a car thief and when visiting Raymond Calitri (Christopher Ecclestone), the man that vows to kill his younger brother, he is tasked with stealing 50 of the ost prestigious cars, some of which may prove to be difficult to track down and deliver them within 48 hours.

With the clock ticking, Memphis needs to act quick to save his younger brother and has to return to his previous life and look up old contacts that he was associated with during that life in order to try and get them to help to fulfil this mission. Meeting people from the past proved to be emotional as he contacts his old partner Sway (Angelina Jolie) and trys to get her to help him. Reluctantly she agrees, and along with the team they set off to steal the 50 cars, all of which are given female names in order to talk about them without mentioning the name of the car.

With only 48 hours to complete the task, the time is ticing to save Kip.

Main Cast

Memphis Raines (Nicholas Cage)
Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi)
Sway (Angelina Jolie)
Otto (Robert Duvall)
Raymond Callitri (Christopher Ecclestone)
Sphinx (Vinnie Jones)

The film itself has what I would consider as quite a star cast, with many of the big names in Hollywood starring in the film. The combination of the cast works extremely well together which makes this film even more of a pleasure to watch. The likes of Vinnie Jones who plays Sphinx in the film, doesn't actually say a word throughout the film right until the very end, however the way that he communicates is comical but works well in the film.

Angelina Jolie plays an excellent role as Sway, the tomboy with sex appeal and speaks her own mind and doesn't care about what anyone thinks of her. I feel that this is one of the best performance that she has done.

My opinion

Gone in 60 Seconds has got to be one of my favourite films of all time. Throughout the whole of the film, it keeps you gripped, there is never a dull moment within it. The storyline is great, however this is actually a remake of another film of the same name that was made in the 70's, which I would like to see to compare. The performance's of the cast and the cast themselves have been well chosen and work well as a team. Overall its a film that I could keep watching over and over again and never get bored of it.
