Advantages: Good film
Disadvantages: Unbelievable
There are several moments in cinematography history that must haunt the realism people the world over. The exploding helicopter that blows Tom Cruise ONTO the moving train in Mission Impossible, The survival of Bruce Willis in Die Hard films...but none as rediculous as the jump scene of Nicolas Cage in Gone in 60 seconds at the end on that bridge. No one was impressed and no one believed it. Do you know what would happen to a cars suspension that even dropped off a 1 metre wall? It would fail. That car would be a gonner as would Nicolas Cage. Anyway, enough of the dissection of the film. Lets have a look at it. The film starts off with some guys stealing a Porsche from a dealership. Very nice until they get busted by their employer for messing up and bringing the police in. One of the guys is Nicolas Cage's brother. To get his brother out of a sticky situation with the bad guys, Nicolas Cage, a one time super car thief must come out of retirement and steal a quota of cars to keep his brother alive. Hence the name, gone in 60 seconds. Clever huh? Its a film of chase and more chase. Intregue and more intrigue. Its also a film of predictability. The task gets completed. The bad guys get caught and the cars go nowhere. The actual car that Cage does the jump in is meant to be his nemesis. His one car that always fails him. Does he get it to safety? Watch the film. Its packed full of Gorgeous cars, a gorgeous woman and a non speaking Vinny Jones. Watch it with an open mind and dont take it too serious and you will enjoy it.
