Advantages: Plot, Acting, action and nice cars
Disadvantages: none
I saw Gone in 60 Seconds in the cinema and thought it was excellent. It has some of the nicest cars you will ever see taking part in the best cars chases ever displayed on the silver screen. It is a very very good film and manages to get a good balance between plot and action. The plot involves Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) making a return to car theft in order to bail his little brother out of a tight spot. Little brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) took a job to steal 50 rare cars and messed it up and the cops found the cars. Now Randall must steal the same 50 cars in one night or mad Englishman Raymond Calitri (Christopher Ecceleston) will kill Kip. Throughout the police keep a close eye on Randall after his reappearance in LA making the job even harder. Nicolas Cage is superb as the retired car thief forced back into the world of crime. He really shows concern for his little brother but then manages to be mister cool when it comes to stealing the cars. Sara "Sway" Wayland is a fellow car thief played by Tomb Raider actress Angelina Jolie. This is the first film I have ever seen her in and she acts excellently. The supporting cast are a stunning line up of Will Patton (Armageddon), Delroy Lindo (Broken Arrow), Robert Duvall (Deep Impact) and Vinnie Jones (Snatch). They all act very well and complement the main charcaters superbly. The action is mind-blowing. When I went to see this film I expected 2 hours of cars chases which isn't what you get. Looking back now I am glad its not like that. When the action comes it has more effect and is really incredible. There are lots of short scenes that could be classed as action but are too numerous to mention. The main action is at the end of the film when the last car has to be stolen and the cops are on the tail of Randall. It is a long car chase at the end but it never gets boring. Their are cars flying through walls, spins, smoking tyres, cars flying through th
e air and a large dose of speed. It is the best car chase I have ever seen. It shouldn't really be classed as an action movie because it relys heavily on the plot but the action is stunning. Overall this film is amazing. I highly recommend you give this one a look because you won't be disappointed. The plot, acting and action are all superb so give it a try.

- 12/04/01 Didn't you find though that after watching the film all the really nice cars on the road just didn't get the same sort of admiration as before? I want to get Nitro fitted on my car!!! Good opinion! |
