Advantages: Great action scenes, Good comedy in places, The cars!

Disadvantages: No real story lin

Memphis Raines (Nicolas Cage) is a retired car thief, with a huge reputation for being the best around. He retired agreeing to his mother's wish to stop before his younger brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) got into the crime like he did. However his brother gets into it anyway and ends up fumbling a big 'boost' (stealing loads of cars really quickly). This gets him in loads of trouble with a crazy hard man, Calitri (Christopher Eccleston), and this pulls Memphis back into stealing cars.

Cage has got one night to steal 50 cars and deliver them by a certain time to Callitri or his brother gets killed. Memphis is forced to agreen and has to get hold of as much of his old crew as he can. These include Sphinx (Vinnie Jones)who doen't speak, and Otto (Robert Duvall) who restores old classic cars.

The film is full of action and the director Jerry Bruckheimer keeps the high octane action going throughout the film. There are some good comedy/black comedy scenes often involving Vinnie Jones who is perfect for the film, even if he doesn't say anything.

However the plot is pretty shallow and most of the time its just Cage etc. breaking into cars and showrooms without a single problem. Its a good action film and you get to see some of the best cars around being driven at their limit. Good film for just sitting back and watching without thinking too much about whats actually going on as you'll end up picking holes in it the whole way.
