Advantages: Nice cars, good for car buffs
Disadvantages: Poor lines, let down on some of the car chases
I saw this film last Saturday and I couldn't wait to see it. I'd seen all the adverts and hype and thought that this film would be brilliant. Fast cars, car chases - what more could a bloke ask for. Anyway, I took my girlfriend with me for company. She fell asleep just after the first car chase but woke up at the last car chase. I was expecting some good realistic car chases. The first car chase was good. I thought it was really good. After that the film went down hill. The middle part of the film involved the Cage's gang organising the "bang" as they called it. Fair enough - some organisation is required to steal 50 cars. But when they finally took the cars all went well till the last few cars. Yes, they were stealing really cool, fast cars but I was expecting wheel spins, skids etc and all the other stuff boy-racer's dream of. The end picked up a bit with the last car chase but I thought it was unrealistic for a car to make a jump that big and to still work after that. The lines - good who wrote them? During the loved up scene instead of simply saying I love you etc they talked about engine parts interacting with each other. That isn't normal and it made the film seem a little but immature to me. My girlfriend wasn't too impressed with the film but thought the last bit, which woke her up, was the best. However, after saying all that, I would see the film again simply to see the cars again. I would recommend this film if your a car nut - if not I'd advise you to drive past it.
