Advantages: A bit of action, reasonable psychological situation shown

Disadvantages: Not a great deal going on

Nick Love along with Shane Meadows seem to have been the most succesful relatively new British producers of this millenium so far. Love's work is a bit hit and miss - The Business was good, Outlaw was poor and The Football Factory was quite good but not brill. Goodbye Charlie Bright is another one that isn't that brilliant, I watched it waiting for something big to happen but it seemed to trundle along at a relatively slow pace, barely anything had happened by the time it ended - I enjoyed the ride but I'm not sure if I'd watch it again.

The film follows the relationship of a group of South East London chavs, in particular the friendship between Charlie (Paul Nicholls) and Justin (Paul Manookian), initially starting the summer with a spate of house parties and an odd mugging, the mood changes following a house robbery that the gang of chavs do in. The once solid relationship begins to hold secrets and other characters appear on the scene including the local psycho Eddie.

The film lacks action when compared to some of its contemporaries and is essentially just a couple of lads going on the rob, it does a good job of covering in depth the emotions of Charlie being continuously let down and disappointed by his best friend who completely adores him but at the same time holds him back from achieving and is content living his simple way of life.

The ending is a bit of a let down and I expected a little more from the film.

Summary: Barely worth the pun!
