Advantages: Nicholas Lyndhurst

Disadvantages: Two actresses had to be replaced at the same time

GOODNIGHT SWEETHEART starred Nicholas Lyndhurst as Gary Sparrow, a 1990s TV repair man who finds a method of moving back to the 1940s simply by walking down an alley in the East End of London! Whilst there he starts a romantic relationship with a barmaid Phoebe, despite the fact that he is already married (in the '90s) to Yvonne. Over the course of the six seasons of the series, Gary has to find ways to keep both of his partners from finding out the truth about his relationships.

The series started in 1993, and featured the gorgeous Dervla Kirwin (from BALLYKISSANGEL) as Phoebe and Michelle Holmes as Yvonne. However, at the end of the third season, both actresses left and were replaced by Elizabeth Carling as Phoebe and Nimmy March as Yvonne. Both actresses had a hard time of it, as audiences had grown fond of the previous actresses (including myself) but they ending up giving reasonable performances in trying circumstances.

Personally I liked the show, both before and after the actresses were replaced, although I would recommend anyone new to the show watched the episodes in order, as it is much better to see the original actresses first.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT:
Every episode was titled after a song, including MY HEART BELONGS TO DADDY and ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE.

Nimmy March played Ron's wife Stella, never Yvonne. She was played by Michelle Holmes in the first 3 series and Emma Amos in the last three
