Gorillas In The Mist is the true story of pioneering Primatologist Dian Fossey, a lady who had no experience of working with animals, unfulfilled in her privileged lifestyle and her role teaching handicapped children, she follows (of course by media coverage) the plight of the gorillas in Rwanda being faced with extinction due to the excessive poaching fuelled by the poverty in Rwanda. I only recently saw this movie, after years of wanting to see it, but for whatever reason just never getting round to doing so. I had seen a few documentaries about Dian Fossey, whom the movie is based on, so I knew what the movie was about, so I was very glad when I got the chance to see it. Gorillas in the Mist is a movie that follows the true life work of Dian Fossey, played by Sigourney Weaver. She is given the chance she has been waiting for, to work in Africa, studying and living with gorillas. I was first introduced to the story of Dian Fossey many years ago when my dad borrowed the video of this film from the local video shop (he only got it cos he likes Sigourney Weaver!). This film started my love for gorillas, who i still like to this day. I think i was about 15 or 16 the first time i saw it, and i have just watched for the first time since then. My dad knows that I love the story of the gorillas and so he bought me this as a gift. The DVD I have is a region 2 so should play in most UK DVD players (mine is multi-region so plays anything and everything!). I just felt the need to let you all know about this wonderful film.
