The storyline
-------------------
Sandy was visiting America from Australia. She met and fell in love with Danny when they met at the beach. Danny thought that Sandy had returned to Australia, but her parents had decided to remain in America and ironically Sandy ended up at the same school as Danny.
He had totally changed from when she first met him as he had to impress his mates at school as he was the leader of the group called the T-Birds. So either he had to change or Sandy did. Sandy ended up joining the Female group the pink ladies and they helped her to wow Danny. Can opposites really attract, and can they remain together. They are totally in love with each other but with their images been totally different, as Danny would say hes gotta be cool. Going out with a very pure girl won't do his image a lot of good. Watch the film to see how they really get on.
Main cast and acting
------------------------------
John Travolta as Danny Zuko - He is the leader of the T-Birds; John plays one of the main leads in this film. He plays the part of a bad boy very well. He is well liked in this film, and is popular with everyone. John plays this part very well, even though he falters at times. He makes the character seem more real, and his singing, is good most of the time, except when he actually has to act to make it bad.
Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsson - Sandy is the Australian that falls in love with Danny, and she is real shocked at how mean he can be. She soon realises how different they are. She is so pure and innocent. Olivia mainly known for her singing voice plays a great Sandy. She looks pure to fit in with her character. She has a great singing voice, which I feel the singing does make the film. She can act and she can sing, what more do you need for the film.
Stockard Channing as Betty Rizzo - Better known as just Rizzo, stockard plays a blinding role in this film, I love her character, she has fun and wit and is played so well, although her singing is not brilliant. She makes up for it with the way she plays a, ok how can I word it loll. A slapper, you can actually feel sorry for her during the film, even though she brings on all her problems herself. Stockard really does make this character what it is.
Jeff Conaway as Kenickie - He is Danny's right hand man, and his best friend, and also Rizzo's boyfriend. Jeff plays the part well, although he does not sing much in the film, he does appear a lot and his acting is funny. Him and Rizzo's relationship really make me laugh. They are so a like which makes them such a great couple to watch and laugh at. I think the actors really make this film what it is.
Didi Conn as Frenchy - Now she is so blonde its unbelievable, she appears in both of the grease films and she is just great, she plays such a good funny but dim character, she can't sing well, but her character is just so lovable and is played so well. I would class Frenchy as also one of the main leads, as she is in the film a lot. Her character is just so different to everyone else. She makes this character different, and she makes you really believe she is as thick as she is loll.
Dinah Manoff as Marty Maraschino - This is the easily led character that just wants to be noticed and get close to Vince Fontain. I find her quite irritating, as a character, but the part is still played well, even though she is the character I dislike the most. She is a good actor, but you don't see her singing much.
Ok enough of the characters or I would be here all day, but that is the main cast of the characters that stood out the most to me during the film.
The choreography
--------------------------
In some parts of the film I think the dancing is brilliant. Now the hand jive dance had a lot to be desired. I really did not like the dancing to that one. The dancing in the hall was mostly good, and some good dance moves were performed, although how can it be perfect with that many people dancing around a hall. Overall the dancing was good but I did prefer the singing scenes I really loved the singing.
The soundtrack
------------------------
Well most of you will still hear the songs from the soundtrack, they became very popular when this film was released, with songs by Olivia and John, they include Summer nights, this is one of my all time favourite songs and is sung very widely on karaoke and yes I admit I have sang it loll. Then you have greased lightening another great song that was performed by the T-Birds while doing up a car. The song was also done as a remix, which was great but is not on the soundtrack. There is many more songs in this soundtrack too many to mention. Most of them are great and then you have a few weaker ones that are not so good, but the good ones definitely outweigh the bad. It is a soundtrack worth listening to.
Memorable quotes
----------------------------
Frenchy: Doody, how do I look?
Doody: Like a beautiful blonde pineapple!
Jan: You mean you're dropping out?
Frenchy: I don't look at it as dropping out! I look at it as a very strategic career move.
Sandy: Are you making fun of me, Riz?
Rizzo: Some people are so touchy.
Cha Cha: They call me Cha Cha because I'm the best dancer at St. Bernadette's.
Frenchy: With the worst reputation.
My opinions
-------------------
I loved this film, I would say that's its not for everyone it does depend on your taste in films. It's a good family film to sit and watch with your kids, if they are like mine and like that sort of film. I have seen it loads of times now and love listening to the soundtrack. The songs really do make the film, not just the acting. It is also a film that you can watch over again. It is a similar film to High School Musical, and America has even named High School Musical Grease 3. The film has a PG rating so is suitable for most ages, and runs for 110 Minutes. The film really is good fun to watch and I just love sitting down and relaxing with my kids to watch these types of films. I have seen both grease films and I loved them both, and will probably watch one of them again over the weekend. We usually decide between the many musical films I got which we are going to watch.
Summary: a dance fever of a great film
