Advantages: Fun; enjoyable; great songs

Disadvantages: None

Do you remember where you were or who you were with when you saw this film (you never know there might be someone out there who hasn't seen it!). I remember it well. I was 15 years old and went to visit a dear friend of mine called Karen in Doncaster (who sadly passed away shortly afterwards). Both me and Karen were mad Stansky & Hutch fans!!! (I can hear some of you cringing perhaps!).

Anyway I went up to Doncaster to spend about a week with her. On one of our outings she asked me if I wanted to see Grease. I said yes of course after hearing so much about it. Neither of us were disappointed. What a great film and so much fun.

Grease was made in 1978 and stars Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. John Travolta has certainly come a long way since Grease; he is one of my favourite actors.

The films concerns 2 characters Sandy and Danny who meet during the School Summer holidays and fall in love. They then find out that for the next School year they are at the same School. Danny is a lot different than he was during those summer holidays with Sandy. He has a sort of macho image to keep up (he is part of a group who call themselves The T Birds) ;which doesn't please Sandy at all and he very cool towards her when they meet. Deep down this is all a front of course....Sandy is a goodie two shoes kind of girl who doesn't immediately fit in at Rydell High School. She does make some great friends though some of whom have problems such as Rizzo (played excellently by Stockyard Channing); She ends up thinking she is pregnant and Sandy is kind to her whilst everyone else is talking about her. One of Sandy's friends is French (played by Didi Conn); She is part of a girl group of friends who call themselves 'The Pink Ladies'

The acting in Grease is great, there are some amazing characters in the film and of course fantastic songs!! My favourites are ( 'You're the one that I want', ' Hopelessly devoted.' and 'Summer Nights' ).

There are various trials and tribulations going on in the film with various characters , all of which make the film even more appealing.

Whether or not Sandy and Danny up together is for anyone who hasn't seen the film yet to find out!!

*A Grease 2 Movie was made in 1982 starring Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer. My own opinion of that film is that it was terrible! And it was not successful. *

My daughter used to love 'Grease ' (1) and she has watched it many times over. I very highly recommend this film mainly to girls (although some boys might like it); I would suggest that its probably most suited to girls aged around 8-13. However, it is a family film and can be thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Summary: A great film with great music; fun and lively
