Advantages: Fun and enjoyable

Disadvantages: if you hate the 50's you'll hate this

This has to be one of my all time favourite musicals. I remember queing for 6 hours to watch it at the cinema when it was first released and have seen it many times since.

It star John Travolta as Danny and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy and is set in the 1950's.

Danny and Sandy meet while on their summer vacation at the beach and fall in love. She is a goody two shoes and he's a bit of a lad belonging to the local gang. They separate after their holiday thinking they will not see each other again little knowing Sandy's father has now to work in America. Little surprise they both end up at the same high school.

After a lot of ups and downs they end up together. But the best thing about this film has to be the songs. They are so catchy and easy to dance to and everyone seems to know them.
Even my 10 year old loves these songs and now has the video.

Its good old fashioned entertainment. Romance, action (car racing) and humour. There is something in this film that will appeal to everyone (even if they don't want to admit it).

This film has been around for over 20 years and will probably be around for a while yet. It is a classic
