Advantages: That theme tune, has the whole lot, funny, FX before it's time....

Disadvantages: Nope, can't think of any!

Ahh.... Gremlins a true classic of my childhood. The cutesy "Gismo" and the menacing "Stripe" are all there, and the animatronics are amazing.

I have to say, I'm not too sure if this film fits into the horror category, as it's too funny! I don't want to ruin it for you but...... the scene near the end in the toy-store is brilliant!

If you don't know the story, Billy is bought a new 'pet' by his Dad, who got it from a Chinese store. The pet is Gismo, the cute, fluffy little brown and white creature. The pet is sold on the express instructions:

"Don't expose it to bright-light, especially not sun-light, sun-light kills them. Don't get them wet. And don't whatever you do, no matter how much they beg, no matter how much they plead, feed them after midnight."

Needless to say, through accident etcetera etcetera all the rules are broken and the Gremlins arrive! They then march on to pillage the town causing general mayhem wherever they go!

This film is a must see. It has it all, humour, wit, cutesy stuff (for those that like it) the story-line, a love story sub-plot, sad bits, happy bits.... need I go on? And best of all is that wonderfully addictive theme tune.....
