I can easily say that Groundhog Day is one of the best films i have ever seen and one of the films that i can easily watch over and over again without getting bored of it. It is a comedy that hit our screens in 1993 and is directed by Harold Ramis.

It stars Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. The story centres around Phil Connors, a Pitsburgh weatherman who goes to Punxsutawney to cover the annual Groundhog Day event. The day happens and he goes to bed in his hotel. He wakes up however the next morning and every day after that with the same day constantly repeating itself.

He does everything he can to get to the next day with it being a new one. He indulges all his desires like smoking, eating anything he wants (wish i could do that) and eventually gets so depressed about it that he continually trys to kill himself in different ways.

Phil realises after a while that he is romantically interested in colleague Rita. He starts to learn different skills that we know will impress her like learning to play the piano and learn the art of sculpting ice among other things. Groundhog day is such a powerful film that in 2006, it was added to the United States National film registry for being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant."

I love the fact that no-one else realises what is going on and when Phil trys to explain it, they all think hes gone insane. I think the love interest between Phil and Rita is really sweet and the fact he goes back every day and starts a new conversation with her to get to know her is lovely. Its not that often that a man would make that much of an effort for a woman lol

This is a really funny film and there are so many classic moments, you wont be able to stop laughing. Groundhog Day runs for 101 minutes and Phil eventually wakes up with a new day ahead of him and feels like his life is just starting again.

Not a lot of people know this but the film was actually shot in Illinois and not Punxsutawney as suggested. I think that this is a really underrated film and should be given the credit that it deserves.

I love the idea of the film and have often thought about what i would do if i could live the same day over and over again. I would definitely try and make as much money out of it as i could and like Phil, would learn new skills. The possibilities would be endless! This is an amazing film and i really recommend it!
