Advantages: Hilarious Movie with plenty of Laugh out Loud moments
Disadvantages: A lot of Adult Humour - so not for those who dislike that sort of thing
I'm not usually a huge fan of comedies and also lately I have been sick of seeing Owen Wilson in the majority of Comedies that are released as he seems to always play the same sort of character in every film. But my sister had been to the cinema to see this and told me it was absolutely hilarious, so I thought it was worth renting as my partner really enjoys comedies so I thought this would be a good one for him.
The film mainly revolves around 2 married couples Rick & Maggie (Owen Wilson & Jenna Fischer) and Fred & Grace (Jason Sudeikis & Christina Applegate) and the 2 wives decide to give their husbands a "Hall Pass" which is basically a week off from their marriage so that they can go out and do whatever they want with whoever they want and I honestly thought the concept seemed a bit cheesy and I expected the whole film to be very predictable "teenage comedy" type of stuff. But I was actually very surprised at how greatly entertaining this movie was and it took a completely different turn from where I was expecting it to go.
There were laugh out loud moments galore in this movie and it is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. As well as Owen Wilson & Jason Sudeikis being absolutely hilarious in the film and playing different roles to what I've seen them in previously, they also have a group of friends who are all equally funny. It was an added bonus for me that Christina Applegate also stars in the movie as she is one of my favourite actresses and she didn't fail to impress me in this film either. There wasn't a moment I was bored throughout this film as there was always so much going on and I have to say there were some fantastic one liners too!
There was a lot of adult humour in the film, some of which people might describe as "vulgar" so it won't be for those who don't like to see that type of thing, but it was done in such a funny way that I really couldn't complain. This is definetely THE comedy of 2011 and I'd reccomend you watch it if you haven't yet seen it.
Summary: This film gets the Hall Pass from me!
