For those unfamiliar with the show Hannah Montana is a TV show about a girl called Miley who lives two lives and puts on a wig and is pop sensation Hannah Montana securely. She does this so she can livr a normal life whilst still live her dream.
After Mileys dad feels the fame of Hannah Montana is getting to Mileys head and she is loosing her roots he decides to force Miley to take a trip home to Tennessee. It's quite common for tv shows that have movies to be set somewhere and I always feel it makes a good change. I think because Hannah Montana is based on a person leading two lives it was nice that in the movie it showed more in depth the real Mileys life.
Once in Tennessee it starts out as a rocky road and Miley just wants to go back to LA to keep living it up being Hannah Montana. It'd clear that she has forgotten her roots and it's quite weird to see how much time in another place has made her lose herself so dramatically.she eventually finds her root and I actually prefer Miley in this movie rather than Hannah Montana. She just seems like a more down to earth character.
Whilst trying to find her roots an realise why she became Hannah Montana in the first place the paparazzi are in Tennessee to trying to dig up some background information on the superstar Hannah Montana. In the mist of everything big decisions have to be made on weather her journey will continue with superstardom or go back to normal life. The paparazzi has never been this full on in the show but I liked it as it make the story more true to life.
I think overall for me the movie just didn't seem like Hannah Montana yes that sort OK but at the same time it needed to have more elements from the show. There is quite alot comedy in the show and this movie has very little in it which I felt was not true to the show. I felt that the small part that Hannah Montana was in the movie she was over dramatised and way to high maintenance compared to the show whic is another thing that made me think hold on is this really Hannah Montana movie.
There is a bit of love in the movie between Miley and another character and also with her dad and a past lover. I think this was a must in the movie because in the show there are always relationships going on.
I think as a movie it was OK but as Hannah Montana movie it was just not what I would have expected which is why I'm not really sure about it.
The movie has alot of music just like the show and what I liked was they had a whole new set of songs especially for the movie. Some of my favourites were Hoedown Throwdown and The Climb.
I think the soundtrack is what got me through most of the movie because they were all fun and energetic and for me carried the movie along. There were times were the plot started to drag then a song would come in to liven up the mood abit.
The character performances were mediocre as usual for a Disney flick nothing really outstanding. I think the plot was OK that it showed the other side of Miley we don't usually see in the show but do think it could have connected to the show a bit more. Not sure if I would really recommend it although the music side to the movie was ok. The DVD is available to buy on Amazon new and used from 1 pence plus 1.26 delivery. Wouldn't really recommend going out my way though.
Summary: not a movie for me
