Advantages: Gary Oldman
Disadvantages: Julian Moore, dissappointment in the last scene, Anthony Hopkins
Being a big fan of Antony Hopkins and the "silence of Lambs" I was very excited about seeing this movie. Despite hearing romours and and reviews from other friends who had seen it and labled it "garbage", I decided to watch Hanibal anyway. While this movie was hyped up to be very disturbing and gorish, it was anything but. Fans of Silence will most likely not enjoy this movie. Hanibal who was intellegant and mysterious in Silence, is rather Sloppy and stupid in "Hanibal". the fact that Claris was layed by julian moore did not help either. instead of trying to play Claris and getting lost in the role, Moore was trying to play Foster (who played Claris in the first movie).
the media seems to be making a grat deal of the last scens in the movie which are supposedly very "disturbing" sorry to burst your bubble boys but the last scene is anything but distorbing. it is biologically impossible for such event to happen as they are in the last scene.
in conclusion Hanibal is Hopkins's movie, Gary Oldman is in only 3 scens while Moore does not get enough screen time.
my advice: skip this meal!
