Advantages: Some very funny moments

Disadvantages: Not as good as the first one

To watch a buddy waster movie I hasve to be in the right frame of mind and no that is not wasted before you ask, instead I have to be in a silly purile mood because usually that is what this sort of comedy is and in the case of Harold ( John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) Escape from Guantanamo Bay I must have been in such a mood because I enjoyed it. Actually I quite enjoyed the first movie to feature the two stoners and this one picks up right where that one ended.

On route to Amsterdam for a pothead holiday Kumar has smuggled some dope onto the plane, when he is spotted lighting his bong a nervous passenger assumes he is a terrorist and his own pathetic attempts only worsen the situation and next thing they know the pair are shipped off to Guantanamo. Managing to escape during a mass break out they set out to clear their names.

As a double act these two work really well together, hey is a ring of the Bill and Teds about them however they use the racial card a lot to gain laughs, poking fun at the stereotypes that exist in American society.

The heavy drug and sex references mean this is not a film for young children but it will appeal to the older teen market that it is aimed at, there are some very funny moment in the film and while there is a sense of repitition in the comedy when compared with the first movie there is stll enough inciteful observational humour to make thefilm work. It does have its limitations but if you are in the right mood then it is an enjoyable film to watch.
