Harold And Kumar Get The Munchies (DVD) ... June, 2005 at MGM Entertainment / Features of the DVD: Anamorphic, PAL, Widescreen / Following up his hit DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR writer-director Danny Leiner has come up with the riotous road-trip comedy HAROLD & KUMAR GET THE MUNCHIES Harold (John Cho) has graduated college and is now working at a cubicle, where he is abused by other workers and forced to do their jobs for them. Kumar (Kal Penn) is expected to go to medical school to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother, but he'd rather spend his time partying. The entire film takes place in one night, as wild Kumar is determined to get a sack of burgers at White Castle, even though his more staid roommate would prefer to stay home and finish a project for his office mates. While Kumar seeks fun and adventure, lusting after nearly every woman he meets, Harold dreams only of Maria (Paula Garces), the woman down the hall whom he likes but is too afraid to talk to. Harold & Kumar's excellent adventure includes an outrageous bathroom scene in a college, a cop who takes his job way too seriously, a group of extreme, rad dudes who harass Harold, Kumar, and a convenience store manager, LAW & ORDER: SVU's Chris Meloni as an incredibly disgusting possible psycho, and Neil Patrick Harris playing himself, making fun of his Doogie Howser image. In addition to plenty of raunchy--and very funny--references to sex, drugs, and rock & roll, Leiner also takes on stereotypes and the meaning of love.

One night they decide to drive a rather lengthy distance to White Castle to get a huge meal after getting "the munchies", but find that this is going to be more difficult than they ever anticipated, causing them to get involved in numerous shennanigans along the way. This film really is off the wall; it has a strange Southern couple, a bunch of co...more

Crowned Review H & K seek acceptance at White Castle (Movie only) (1183 words)

It can be funny sometimes how a movie can become a defining moment during a particular time. Just a few years ago in 2004, I was on holiday in Crete and had got into the habit of eating at tavernas that offered showings of the latest movie releases while you ate. The legality of this was somewhat unclear as these were films that had only just hit US audiences in movie theatres on release but my conscience did manage to overcome this possible infringement of copyright law when I became entranced by one particular movie from New Line Cinema, on a balmy evening on our beautiful holiday island. The movie we saw was titled “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” but ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Harold And Kumar Get The Munchies (DVD): Hilarious stoner film (299 words)

note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room Stoner comedies are a slowly emerging genre, but the problem is that for those who aren't "initiated", they might find the humour lost on them. Nevertheless, Harold and Kumar fires jokes broad enough to entertain both those who enjoy their recreational narcotics as well as those who know nothing about it. The film revolves around Harold Lee (John Cho), a young investment banker, and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn), a budding med student who is talented but lazy. My next review is on the 2004, hit comedy Harold and Kumar get the Munchies, also known as Harold and Kumar go the White Castle, depending on where the film was released. Ill be honest I loved this film from start to finish, it was fresh, funny, and easy to follow and I could so totally relate to everything that has, or was going to happen in the film. I am always careful about teenage comedy films, since the release of American Pie, their have been several films that have come out trying to copy and imitate it with disastrous affects. However, I am glad to say that this was not the case with this film, and it delivered everything I would expect from a comedy, whilst ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Harold And Kumar Get The Munchies (DVD): It's hard not to love Harold and Kumar (912 words)

I first saw this in my first year of uni in 2006. My boyfriend had a copy of it and from time to time would try to persuade me to watch it. I refused several times, assuming it would be a childish and ridiculous bore - the sort of comedy that weed smoking teenage boys would find funny. Eventually though, I agreed to give it a go but only if I could write one of my essays at the same time (I refused to give it my full attention). But within the first five minutes I was hooked...and needles to say I didn't get any of my essay done. This film was made in 2004 and was directed by Danny Leiner. It is acually called Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle in America ...  Read the complete review
