Advantages: Star studded cast, covers a lot of relationship areas

Disadvantages: Quite long and confusing

I watched this film in the cinema when it first came out and I really enjoyed it. I was having problems with a guy at the time and really related to the film. I have now bought it on DVD and found that it wasn't as good as I remembered.

The story follows the lives of several different men and women going through different relationship problems. There is a couple, played by Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck, who have been together for seven years. Beth (Aniston) wants to get married and gives him an ultimatum - he marries her or they break up.

Another couple - Ben and Janine played by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Connelly have been together since high school and got married at a young age. Ben admits that he married her because she gave him an ultimatum and it felt like the right thing to do.

There is then the single girl - Gigi played by Ginnifer Goodwin who cannot get a date. She waits for guys to call and they never do, but she keeps chasing them, which tends to scare them off. She then meets Alex in a bar and he gives her advice on men and what to look out for.

Scarlett Johansson crops up and plays Beth, who Ben falls in love with, even though he is married. This sparks a new debate about whether men and women can be friends and the point is pretty much proved that they can't be.

Drew Barry more plays the geeky Mary who is friends with three gay guys and tends to date online. She chats to them on MySpace and on webcams as well.

As you can see this film has a lot of different characters and stories and you really need to pay attention in order not to miss something. I found that it was quite unrealistic as well because all the characters seemed to be connected in some way, either they knew each other or worked together or bumped into each other randomly in the shop. However, this does make it a little bit easier to follow.

The film has quite a few references to Sex and the City as well. There are breaks in the film where unrelated people give their opinions to phrases, such as 'If he's not calling you', 'If he's not marrying you' and 'If he's not sleeping with you'. The last one is a guys point of view. The film then reverts back to scenes which relate to what has just been said.

Although the title is 'He's just not that into you', that really only relates to Gigi and Alex. He is the one who tells her all these different guys aren't into her. He does actually give some quite good advice from a man's point of view and at times can sound rather like a girl.

The other theme really is marriage. There are two couples who marriage relates to and there are lots of awkward comments about when it is right to marry. There is also a wedding which takes place - Beth's sister, and there are quite a few funny comments about her still being single.

There are lots of relationship issues covered in this film, such as why is a guy always nasty to you when he actually really likes you, infidelity, lying, among all the others that have already been mentioned.
I did like this film and is quite true to life. It depicts an accurate representation of modern relationships. There is one line that I really like which Anna says when talking to Ben - 'When a guy has an insane smile or an ass that makes you want to dry hump it'.

It is quite long though and has a lot of different things included. What I did like was that the ending was not what you were expecting it to be and it's not really a typical chick flick film. Although I have watched it twice I might not hurry to watch it again, but would recommend people to watch it for the first time.

Summary: One to watch, but not again
