It's widely acknowledged that there is nothing in the world more cruel or more vicious than a teenage high school girl. Establishing your place in the 'in crowd' is a cut-throat business - a business that the Heathers are all too familiar with. The Heathers are Westerburg High's most exclusive clique - a group made up of three girls all called Heather (the school's queen bitch Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, and Heather McNamara), and Veronica (Winona Ryder). Veronica is a new addition to the Heather's social circle and, while she wants to be a part of their group, she often feels uncomfortable with their nastiness. The Heathers' favourite past-time is to make everyone ... Read the complete review

This is one of my all time favourite films. The comedy, the irony and the gorgeous Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, what more does a film need? The plot seems very simple. We?re at Westbridge High School, 1988. Winona?s character, Veronica, is slightly quiet and reserved but has made it into the clique of ?popular girls? at school all bizarrely called Heather. As one is president of the student council and one a cheerleader they rule the school. Veronica isn?t so sure she fits into this elite circle but doesn?t have the courage to leave. Until the gorgeous, sexy and rebellious JD (Christian Slater) comes to town. He looks amazing, and very ... Read the complete review

I kept hearing about this film but somehow only saw it for the first time a few months ago. I've since watched it twice more. This is high school movies and black comedy at it's absolute best, complete with ridiculous 80s clothes and hair. Perfect! This now cult classic tells the story of the three Heathers - Chandler (Kim Walker), Duke (Shannen Doherty) and McNamara (Lisanne Falk) - and Veronica (Winona Ryder)- the most popular and hated girls in school. Veronica is new to their clique after ditching her true friend, Betty Finn, in an attempt to get in with the in-crowd and become popular, even though she too hates the Heathers. The Heathers are ... Rating:
Heathers, a teen black comedy, was released in 1989 by New World Pictures. It is rated 18 and is 102 minutes long. The film was a complete flop at the box office, making just over $1 million, only half of it's budget. Heathers is now a cult classic and went on to do really well with VHS and DVD rentals and sales and gained a spot on the top 50 High School movies list. Veronica Sawyer is part of the most popular clique in high school along with 3 other girls, all named Heather (The Heathers) with Heather Chandler being the leader of the group. Veronica dumped one her her best friends, Betty Finn, in order to be part of the in crowd, even though deep down she ... Read the complete review

"Heathers" is an absolute 80s classic of a film. It's provides a whole new outlook on the traditional American high-school comedy genre that was practically on it's last legs at the time. It does what "Clueless" was to do six years later - completely rip to shreds the typical cliques (in particular the popular ones) found in high schools everywhere. Only unlike "Clueless", "Heathers" is a lot darker, making it essentially a black comedy. And so the film begins with new-girl Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) complaining about the group of friends that she hangs around with, all named Heather. The gang is led by the ...
