When Dr David Callaway's wife commits suicide, his life is turned upside down. His young daughter, Emily, is emotionally very scarred by the turn of events, and in an attempt to try and restore some happiness to Emily's life he moves from the city to a large, old house in the countryside. At first, the move seems to do little for Emily's well-being but after a short time, her mood seems to improve, due largely to Emily finding a new pal known only as Charlie. Believing that Charlie is simply an imaginary friend, created to help Emily cope with her grief, David is happy to play along with the story and even ignores little pranks that Emily insists were all ... I'm a big fan of Robert De Niro so last night settled down to watch Hide and Seek, although I've seen the film before I haven't watched it in full without interruption so was quite looking forward to it. Hide and Seek is a simple story with a confusing twist, this is the only way I can explain it really without giving away any major details about the plot. De Niro plays David Callaway, a man whose wife committed suicide recently who is left to care for their nine year old daughter Emily. While Emily didn't witness her mother's suicide as such, she was present when her father found her body in a bathtub filled with blood. This caused Emily to have a ... Read the complete review

I watched Hide And Seek with my mate last week and thought it was proper rubbish even though it was supposed to have been one of the best films of 2005 but I reckon anything starring De Niro gets called the best film even though he's lost his edge as an actor now. It's about a man called David Callaway whose wife committed suicide at the beginning of the film and left him to look after their daughter Emily. Emily becomes withdrawn because of her mum dying and so David and her move to a remote house so he can help her to get over it. It turns out to be not a very good idea because they soon realise an evil entity is pretending to be Emily's imaginary friend ... Read the complete review

While watching the trailers at the begginning of "The Cell", a trailer came on for a strange film with a range of stars in it....well Darryl Hannah, Vincent Gallo and Jennifer Tilly. It was something about a kidnapping and...what an unborn baby? Well, it sounded interesting to me! So anyway, after taking "The Cell" back and spotting "Hide and Seek" on the shelf I grabbed a copy and headed on home. The movie begins with Ann (Darryl Hannah) being kidnapped from her bed in the middle of the night. We don't know who has kidnapped her or why, but when she wakes up the next morning we meet them. Her kidnappers ... Read the complete review

Ahhh October has arrived; it was my birthday and guess which horror film I wanted to watch. Hide and seek. Rated a 15, I thought it was a great DVD to rent it for the evening. My friend had seen it before and recommended it to me to watch. It gave her nightmares for about a week apparently, but was a 'wicked' film to watch. Starring Dakota Fanning (war of the worlds, cat in the hat, uptown girls), Robert de Niro, (meet the fockers, sharktale and godsend to name but a few) and Famke Janssen (x-men, don't say a word, and made), this film isn't just scary, yet sketchy, but also a gripping, heart pumping film that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. The acting was ... Read the complete review
