Advantages: Good girl power film, Solid leads, always good to see a Brit film

Disadvantages: may not appeal to men as much, A bit unadventurous at times, Not enough quality in the support

This film centres on two women (Minnie Driver and Mary McCormack) who overhear a robbery and decide to blackmail the robbers for as much money as they can get. They then bumble through money drops and threatening the gangsters, eventually being threatened themselves. This is a British film directed by Mel Smith and nearly all of the cast are British (Mary McCormack the exception).

Although this is better than a lot of recent British gangster/crime movies (Rancid Aluminium anyone?), it is no better than average. This film focuses a lot more on the comedy of the situation the two women are in, and both leads are confident and affable. However their is very little new material here and although humourous in places is never laugh out loud funny. The supporting cast is somewhat dissapointing (Mark Williams of The Fast Show is underused as a detective and given some of the worst lines). The 'mockney' gangster behind the robbery, who threatens the women, is very unconvincing as a nasty piece of work (I'm sure I've seen him in a sit-com as a cuddly, dim, middle-aged parent), and much of the rest of the cast is non-exsistent.

Certainly the film is saved by an always likeable Minnie Driver, and the loud mouthed American, Mary McCormack, adds some sparkle to an average British film. This film is by no means bad though, it's a bit of a no brainer and you could do worse things for an hour and a half.

Finally I must emphasise that I am a bloke, and with this film I think it is quite important to state that. I think that this film is more aimed at women(I hope I'm not being sexist here, because there are things blokes can enjoy in it), because there are a lot of "You go girl" moments.

I would say that this is a good date movie (or for a girls night in), and it is a slickly made british film which is always good to see. But British films normally have an excellently funny supporting cast, and nobody here really
steals the film. The plot and script just leave you wondering whether this average film could have been so much better.

I enjoyed this film. It wasn't too taxing on the brain, and yes, I think this is more of a girl's film!

I've heard really terrible things about this film. I remember it being publicised on TV a while back with Kate Thornton getting soundbites from cinema goers as they came out of the film. Obviously the comments given were spontaneous. Ahem...
