Advantages: Upbeat, summery, happy and musical

Disadvantages: Still cheesy and more predictable and less distinctive than the first

Sequal to Disney's High School Musical (the first film of the series) this Emmy Award winning follow on features new songs, new horizons and new fun. With the usual cast- Vanessa Hudgens (Gabriella) and Zac Efron (Troy) take the lead as the romantic young lovers and continue their high school adventures along with the help of friends Chad (Corbin Bleu), Taylor (Monique Coleman) and twins Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) and Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale).

Premiered in Disneyland, August 17th 2007, Anaheim, Calafornia, it followed on the sucess of Peter Barsocchini's 2006 piece with an upbeat and varied soundtrack featuring hits "What Time Is It", "Fabulous" and "Bet On It". Similar to the style of High School Musical, it is very predictable- a different storyline, however very relating themes, musical styles and ending. Friendship, young love and high school problems are still explored with characters that youngsters can relate to and the regular prescence of some talented singers.

This 104 minute feature that was entended to 111 minutes later, follows the cast as siblings Sharpay and Ryan go to their family's country club, "Lava Springs" to spend their summer in bliss being waited on. This is disrupted when the princess of cool Sharpay's classmates turn up to work and have some fun at the club. There is arguments and the usual Sharpay-Troy-Vanessa love triangle, but is it resolved when a talent show and pool party at the end brings the film into a "Wildcat" happy zone, leaving the audience feeling fufilled and smiley.

Adapted on stage, ice, in books and throughout excelling merchandise, it is an expected release- unsurprising and not anything special, but definitly has its moments. The cast will live on in the hearts of many kids, teens and families forever.

Summary: This Disney carry on from High School Musical keeps the flag flying for the famous cast
