... hundreds of years ago. However, stick with it as all is soon revealed by the arrival of Connery who injects a bit of flair into proceedings, and aptly explains the protagonists purpose and serves as a mentor. The highland scenes are wonderfully shot, and the scenery used is simply spectacular. Whether or not it actually was Scotland i don't know, but it plants an idea that the highlands are a very beautiful place. Lamberts acting isn't up to much, and his muddled accent makes him difficult to watch. (He's a real ...more

Nothing personal, but I'm afraid I'm simply going to have to decapitate you. It's been fun but now you d... Hmm, I trust I have your attention. This film brings back memories for me and not just because of the film. You see being a Queen fan this was a double delight. A great flick and a stonking soundtrack, oh yes, back in 1986 or whenever it was I was in a state of bliss :D I shall split this into two parts, the film and then the music. I'd best do that or you will see me diving into an even more addled state than usual. Ok, time now for a chat about all these unfortunate chaps who want to relieve the weight from their rival's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Who Wants to Live Forever? (957 words)

Rating:

I have seen bits of this film over the years and from what I saw it looked quite complicated to follow as it goes from the 1980's back to the 16 century and it looked quite confusing but after sitting and watching it all in one go I found it was the opposite and I did actually enjoy the story. Connor MacLeod was born in 1518 in the highland and when his village goes to battle he comes up against The Krugan, he means nothing to Connor but the Krugan seems determined to kill him and he mentions during battle that there must be only one. Back in the present, 1985, Connor is watching a wrestling match when he suddenly gets up to leave and whilst ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Highlander (DVD): There Can Be Only One! (258 words)

Rating:

The Facts: Certificate - 15, Running Time - 112 Minutes, Genre - Action/Adventure The Plot: Christopher Lambert plays Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod in this iconic action film dating from 1986. Connor is an immortal warrior who can only be killed by decapitation. The problem is that other immortals also exist who can feed off their immortal energy after they kill one another. Connor's story is told through flashbacks, but is firmly fixed in 1980's America, where he must battle to stay alive against an enemy from hundreds of years in his past. Fortunately he hasn't been too idle over the centuries and has become quite handy with a ...  Read the complete review
