There IS only one (Highlander (DVD))
Member Name: Crocquen
Advantages: Christopher Lambert Disadvantages: Most disappointing sequels Christopher Lambert is immortal, well nearly the only way of finishing him off is to lob his head off. Doesn't sound like my kind of film, but it so is. The film flashes back to Conor McCloud's past starting in 16th century Scotland when he's frolicking on the heather with, well Heather, and shows how he survives a bloody battle only to be driven out of his village for recovering - nice neighbours! I love the bit when Sean Connery enters looking ever the strange "Spanish peacock" to tell him he is one of the chosen and helps him prepare for the quickening when there can be only one. I'm not ususally into sword fights and battles but this film gets away with it. There is subtle humour to the film which I think really adds to it. The Queen soundtrack also adds a definite quality and Kind of Magic is one of my fav CDs. The only critisism of Highlander is the really bad idea to do sequels and spin-offs. As a fan of the first film I got really excited about the sequel - how wrong was I? My fav bit of Highlander 2 is when Conor puts a Queen song on the jukebox in a diner - well actually that's the only bit I can remember. Was also disappointed with the TV series - who cares about Conor's cousin - not me! Summary: Love it, Love it |
