It's hard to say whether the film depicts gay men stereotypically, or whether it simply has them bang to rights; I couldn't honestly say that I didn't recognise most of the characters encountered in Holding Trevor, reluctantly or otherwise. The film's dialogue-heavy narrative limps painfully along from one "dramatic" scene to another. Twenty-something Trevor is finding that life is less and less satisfying.
