Advantages: Great energy from actors
Disadvantages: stereotypical views of neighbourhoods in America
Directed by Bille Woodruff Honey is a heartwarming film starring Jessica Alba.
Alba plays Honey a young woman struggling to make a living so takes on more than one job as a bartender and record store clerk. However her real passion is dancing and choreographing that she does at her community centre with the local children. She finally lands a job to cherograph musical videos, but this ends up affecting her love life with her boyfriend played by Mekhi Phifer of ER. She then puts her efforts into making a video with the local community group, though faces an array of problems. Honey has to suceed in making sure the neighbourhood kids are successful through dance while saving her relationship.
The soundtrack featuring artists like Missy Elliot and the dancing in the movie is exceptional. This gives the film a lot of energy.
Jessica Alba also gives the film a lot of energy while adding that sexual appeal. The supporting cast are terrific in adding a realness to the movie.
The only real negative is the stereotypical portrayal of neighbourhood kids needing an activity to prevent them from crime.
The DVD extras include a featurette, deleted scenes, a music video, behind the groove and make your movie plus many more.
With a viewing certificate of PG, lasting just over an hour and a half this is a good value DVD from 3.18 at Amazon.
Honey is a movie that trickles and leaves a sweet taste!
