Advantages: Good action

Disadvantages: Some embarrasing lines

The quote on the front of the cover says that hostage is "easily as good as his die hard masterworks" and well it is a good film it falls far behind die hard. Bruce willis gives a good performance as an ex hostage negotiator that has to return to his old job after a rich family get held hostage by a group of unexperienced robbers. There are other segments added to this basic story that make it different from he many low buget actin films that follow this sort of story. The budget helps to make this film full of action and at some points very tense. Towards the end there is a feeling that there have been parts written in to stretch it out to it's worthy length but this doesn't effect it too badly. The soundtrack and some details are easily overlooked but the film is well filmed and has a good script with just a few cringeworthy lines that would be more suited to a less experinced actor. However this doesn't ruin the film and it is a good action thriller with a mixture of tense drama and all out action. I would definately recomend it to all.
