Advantages: Nick Frost steals the show with some great lines

Disadvantages: The laughs are too bland to make this a great comedy

Hot Fuzz really was a let down for me at first, I was expecting more laugh out loud moments like in Shawn of the Dead. This is a bigger budget outing for Simon Pegg and his funny side kick Nick Frost but it is more of a real film than a silly comedy.

After watching the film a few more times I appreciate the better production and effort put into Hot Fuzz but I still would prefer more laughs in a comedy. The comedy is always there but there seems to be very few punchlines to the jokes, so it plays out like a movie caught between being a 'good' film and a silly comedy.

On the whole it is very entertaining and easy to watch but does leave one thinking that so much more laughs could of been included. The cast is excellent and the whole idea of the plot is so absurd that it works well. Simon Pegg is a very good actor but his other films beat this one for new people to his comedy style.

Summary: Could of done better

It would be helpful to mention the plot, to put what you say into context.
