How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom. It's quite funny and one I generally tend to watch most of the time. To me it seems that they are trying to pass it off as the new Friends which will never happen in my opinion. Friends is way funnier and more slick but this sitcom has a good premise as the overlying story of the show and includes some funny characters and situation. It debuted on American television in 2005 and has gone on to win some Emmy Awards. The main characters is called Ted and generally at the start and during the show he provides a narration in the past tense, describing to his son and daughter the evens that let up to him meeting their ... I have only just recently started watching this show, despite the fact it was released in 2005. E4 must have decided to re-run the first series again so they've been advertising quite a lot lately. Each episode is half an hour long, and is set in 2030, beginning with two teenagers sitting on a sofa, and the voiceover of a middle-aged sounding man who is their father explaining, in short terms, 'How I Met Your Mother'. This introduction lasts about a minute, until it goes into a flashback and we see this father, but in modern day times, before he ever had children. The protagonist of the show is Ted, who is the voiceover/father guy at the beginning. ... Read the complete review

I saw How I Met Your Mother advertised a few years ago, but for some reason it didn't appeal to me so I didn't watch it. Then I happened to see it at a friends house and now I'm hooked! I have no idea why the adverts didn't appeal to me as it is just my type of show. Perhaps the advert didn't demostrate how very funny and engaging the show is, in which case many other people may be missing out on an excellent programme! *Outline* The show is set in the present day, but features flashes into the future where the main character, Ted Mosby, is talking to his future children. He sits his teenage son and daughter down to recount the story of how he met ... Read the complete review

For those of you yearning to find something to fill the painfully large void left by the conclusion of friends - the wait is finally over! The similarities between How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) and Friends are obvious from the start. Both US sitcoms are about a group of friends who are in their twenties. Both sets of characters live in apartments in New York and spend what seems to be an unhealthy amount of their time either in the same café (Friends) or in the same bar (HIMYM.) However, the similarities all but end there. I certainly did not watch the TV series or the DVD's of HIMYM with any comparisons to Friends springing to mind, HIMYM feels fresh, more modern than ... How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom which premiered in 2005 but I've only just got around to watching it recently. In the year 2030, Ted Mosby tells his son and daughter how he met and fell in love with their mother. The majority of the show is flashbacks to the present day showing the story of Ted's younger life when he is 27 years old, which is narrated in parts by Bob Saget. His younger days incorporates all the usual shenanigans of a young guy including dating, making a career, and going out with friends and much more information than any parent would usually tell their children. Marshall, Lily and Barney are some of Ted's very close friends and ... Read the complete review
