Advantages: Great casting, funny.
Disadvantages: None
How to lose a guy in ten days was made way back in 2003 but still continues to a be a popular choice with the rom com crowd and here's why!
The Plot :-
Andie Anderson is working for uber cool women's magazine Compusure where she dreams of writing about the things that really matter, politics and human rights in third world countries but sadly that's not Andie's job. She is the resident How To.. girl. And her latest assignment is.. How to lose a guy in ten days! Helped out by her two best friends Andie hits the bars to find just that perfect man to drive away and he is found in none other than the overtly gorgeous Benjamin Barry. But you see, things aren't what they seem. Benjamin Barry is a ladie's man of the highest order who charms his way through life and into the best jobs at the marketing company which is annoying two of his female co-workers so they offer him a challenge. If you can make a woman fall in love with you, you win the delour diamond account. And they chose the woman.. bring in Andie Anderson.
With two such tacky matching names how could these two not hit it offf? It's a rom com so of course they do, with a little or should that be a lot of scheming on both sides these two gorgeous folk become inseperable. With Andie working hard to repel Ben with the obvious ways women have of scaring away potential mates and Ben oozing all the charm he can muster, there are laughs a plenty, as we watch the two to see who will win out.
Will one of them reign victorious in their seperate challenge, or will love win out and see them living happily ever after? Well they have ten days so let the fun commence.
We will find out in a scene full of beautiful dresses, stunning diamonds and oh dear god yes, comedy karaoke!
Characters : -
Andie Anderson is played by all American blonde beauty Kate Hudson. A great performance from Kate who raises many a laugh as the wacky Andie Anderson, complete with love ferns and pictures of their future kids, you can really believe Andie's actually a little crazy.
Matthew McConaughey plays all round bachelor boy Benjamin Barry, it's easy to see how well Matthew fits into his character as Ben, he has women world wide wishing a man would send them flowers to their office, and take them riding along the promenade on his motorcycle.
Opinion :
Well it has to be said I am a sucker for a good romantic comedy and this one is a winner everytime I need a bit of cheering up. A great cast, lots of laughs and as a girl bits that make you cringe thinking oh no I did that, when you hear Andie's hapless friend Michelle telling the girls how she lost yet another man.
I love the fact that you never really know right until the end, how it will all turn out, the director keeps you guessing even though you hope they will get the happy ending they deserve, you can still see it all crashing down.
A great feel good rom-com with a good cast and a storyline that makes it a little different to all the other boy meets girl, they fall in love stories out there.
Film Info: -
* Film is rated 12 due to mild language and some moderate nudity/reference to sex
* Run time - approx 111 minutes
Summary: A feel good rom-com movie with a bit of heart.
